The Partnership of Southeast Texas
The Partnership of Southeast Texas is a non-profit, economic development corporation that works to develop cooperative efforts on a regional basis. Its purpose is to help retain and create jobs in a nine-county area that includes Chambers, Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Newton, Orange, Tyler counties and the Bolivar Peninsula in Galveston County.
Located on the Texas/Louisiana border by the Gulf of Mexico, the Southeast Texas region is known for its hard work and the best outdoor and indoor recreation anywhere.
And it delivers the lifestyle common to a 500,000-population region, (Beaumont / Port Arthur MSA and part of the Houston / Galveston MSA) but with the transportation assets of communities and regions four times its size. That includes the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway and three major river systems : Sabine, Neches and Trinity.
Businesses are attracted by the 30 million population that is within 500 miles, including Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and New Orleans.
But people are drawn by the friendly folks and the year-round outdoor climate. Four national forests, the Big Thicket National Preserve, four National Wildlife Refuges and four and state wildlife management areas, four state parks, numerous fresh water lakes, the Gulf of Mexico, and meandering waterways mean plentiful outdoor activities. Cultural activities, such as world-class theaters, ballet and opera, draw thousands. And the beaches of Southeast Texas are quicker to access from Houston than many parts of Galveston. We invite you to learn more. Visit one of the on-line communities below or browse the statistics on one of the nine counties in Southeast Texas. We hope to see you soon-- perhaps at the Mardi Gras celebration or at the lakes for the best bass fishing in the world. Certainly for the world-famous wedding of Ali and Ellie Gator. Make sure you take in the splash in Lake Sam Rayburn or check the start of the Great Texas Birding Trail at the Tony Houseman/Blue Elbow State Swamp.
